Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located multiple other marked vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
